Why Do I Need A Domain?
Sometimes, when you write content for a website, you have to come up with 'filler' text. Stuff that doesn't really matter, it just takes up space and makes your site look bigger than it actually is.
You use words and phrases that seem redundant, essentially saying the same thing over and over again, just to expand the perceived amount of content on your site, and thus the importance of that site.
Well this page is no exception! However, in addition to meeting the needs of SEO and relevant content, I'm going to add something here that will be of benfit to the reader.
No matter what you're selling, you NEED a domain name. Even if you're an affiliate marketer and won't be selling your own products, you need to brand yourself. You need a place to send people so that you can redirect them to the product you're promoting.
"Can't I just send them my affiliate link?" Sure, if you want to look like a total lamer. Plus, some people just don't like the idea of you making money off of them, so they'll remove the affiliate part and go straight to the site you're promoting - thus stripping not only your affiliate link, but your commission as well.
Your own domain name takes care of all those needs. It looks professional AND if you use a simple PHP redirect, you can give out a name like www.MyPersonalDomain.com/RecommendedProduct and when they click the link they'll automatically go to whatever site you want to send them to. It works like this:
Click this link to go to www.KillerDigitalDispatch.com
Now, the links shows KillerDigitalDispatch.com and in fact, there is a domain named KillerDigitalDispatch.com. However, once you go to the site (whether you type it in or click the link) where do you actually go?
Professional, and no way around it. :) So stop sending out lame looking affiliate links or trying to host your companies website on a free subdomain! It's $10 a year folks, it just ain't worth the hassle not to do it.
